Ingredients:
1½ lbs ground beef or ground turkey
1 onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 (10 oz) can diced tomatoes with green chilis
2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
1 (13.25 oz) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
1 tsp minced garlic
3 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp sugar
Salt, to taste
Parmesan cheese (optional)
12 oz spaghetti, cooked according to package directions
Directions:
Make the Meat Sauce:
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat with chopped onion and green pepper until fully cooked. Drain the excess fat.
Stir in the diced tomatoes with green chilis, tomato sauce, mushrooms, garlic, oregano, sugar, and salt. Bring everything to a simmer. Cover and cook gently for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cook the Spaghetti:
Meanwhile, boil the spaghetti in salted water following package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Serve:
Plate the spaghetti and spoon that rich, chunky meat sauce right over the top. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if you like for an extra cheesy touch.
Slow Cooker Option:
After browning meat, onion, and pepper, transfer to a slow cooker. Add all other ingredients and cook on low for 6–8 hours for deep, slow-simmered flavor.
